PATC: Detecting Deception
July 17, 2024 - Grand Blanc, Mi.
Detecting Deception is a course designed to provide insight and training into the only three ways people can be deceptive: writing, body language, and any type of verbal statements. An individual who has training in these areas is far better able to detect when someone is being truthful or deceptive. The skills learned in this training will not only be able to be applied to cases you are going to be involved in, but it can also be applied to previous cases.
PATC: Death and Homicide Investigation
July 29, 2024 - Coppell, Tx.
This program will focus on the historical perspective of violent crime analysis and the importance of applying a criminal investigative assessment process to violent crime investigations. The participants will review case studies of offenders to enhance their understanding of the motivating factors of the offenders and then apply the acquired knowledge in conducting crime scene assessments. The course will culminate in case practicums in order for the participants to demonstrate their proficiency.
PATC: Death and Homicide Investigation

This course is a comprehensive INTRODUCTORY LEVEL overview for the law enforcement officer who has recently the crucial task of conducting supplemental investigations of suspected criminal offenses. During this course the student will also be exposed to various injury, death, homicide and sexually sensitive and explicit sexual battery cases. Also included in this course will be several post-mortem examination photographs and videotape segments, as well as injury, death and homicide scenes through photos and videotapes from actual closed cases. This part of the course will be VERY GRAPHIC AND INTENSE.
Basic Cyber Investigations: Digital Footprints

Topics include limiting an individual's digital footprint, protecting privacy on social media, and the consequences of oversharing personal information, along with steps to take after becoming a target of doxing.
Intermediate Cyber Investigations: Geolocation Data Analysis

This course is for law enforcement investigators, examiners, and analysts, where device location information may be of importance. Class concepts include exploring user attributes, advertising identifiers, geofence returns, important legal considerations and processes, overall investigative processes, and tools available to law enforcement. Students will use a commercially available investigative tool for querying an advertising identifier dataset to display signal locations and a freely available investigative tool for visualizing reverse location returns.

Introduction to Link Analysis
August 28, 2024 - Online
This course provides in-depth instruction on association and social network analysis. The first part of this course explains the purpose and process of association analysis and how to create an association matrix. Students will also learn how to build and present a link chart using standard symbols and terms. The second part of this course explains what social network analysis is with focus on types of centrality, network structure, and the application of the target-centric approach.
