NARSOL: Suite Filed in Illinois challenging parole restrictions on sex offendersa
Feb 7
The two plaintiffs in this case are members of NARSOL's Illinois chapter and are suing the state due to prohibited access to erectile dysfunction medication based on their parole terms for being convicted sex offenders.
The case started due to plaintiffs desiring the medication because of the side effects they have from prostate cancer surgery. They are alleging that the statute violates their liberty and that refusing to provide them with the needed medication unjustly affects their ability to have intimate relationships with consenting adults and as such violates their 8th and 14th amendments respectively.
