CBS12: Florida mental health counselor and accomplice accused of trafficking 15-year-old girl

MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — A licensed mental health counselor and her accomplice are accused of trafficking a 15-year-old girl for sex.

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) said on August 18, officers responded to the Aloft Hotelat 7600 SW 88 Street in reference to a dispute.

Following an investigation, detectives were made aware of a horrible situation.

The MDPD said on August 12, a 15-year-old girl was walking her dog in the pool area of the hotel when she was approached by 45-year-old Maria Ximena Duarte. Police said Duarte befriended the teenage girl and gained her trust by telling the victim she was a psychologist.
The victim told detectives Duarte offered her drugs, alcohol, and asked her to record sexual acts. The underaged victim then told police was forced into sexual acts with an older man— identified as 46-year-old Jason Mojica.

Police said the two were located and arrested.
Duarte faces the following counts:
Human trafficking
Labor or service of a child
Lewd and lascivious exhibition of a child
Lewd and lascivious battery/other sex acts
Interference with custody

Mojica faces the following for his involvement:
Sexual battery
Lewd and lascivious battery/Sexual activity
Interference with custody
